Director of Dining Services: Chris Moore

The Department of Dining Services at the University of Maryland takes great pride in offering nationally recognized nutritional programming and sustainability efforts. Our self-operated and self-supported dining program actively supports the campus community by providing delicious, healthy food that contributes to the university’s academic mission. We aim to provide convenience, flexibility, and value to students with our resident dining plans, granting unlimited access to a wide variety of meals that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences.

Dining Halls

Dining halls are open to the entire university community, but our first priority is to serve resident students. We are open daily before and after class hours to ensure students can enjoy nutritious meals. The hours of operation for the dining halls are:

  • South Campus and Yahentamitsi Dining Halls:
Breakfast starts at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. on weekends, with service running until 9 p.m. each night.
  • 251 North (Denton Community):
Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. every day, with continuous service until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 p.m. on weekends.

With over 38 culinary stations, we offer hearty breakfasts, classic lunch and dinner entrées, fresh sides, salads, pasta, quesadillas, wraps, sandwiches, rotisserie meats, and more. Our state-of-the-art kitchen equipment provides flexibility to experiment with new cooking techniques and recipes. You'll find international foods, vegan stations, a Mongolian grill, fresh-baked desserts, soft-serve ice cream, and much more in our dining halls.

Additional Dining Options

In addition to the dining halls, there are numerous dining options across campus, including:

  • Popular franchises in The Stamp and Kirwan food courts
  • Cafés in academic buildings for fresh carryout
  • Markets in residence communities with snacks, fresh carryout, school supplies, and more
  • Mulligan’s Grill and Pub, located at the University Golf Course, offering elevated clubhouse cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere

For a complete list of locations, hours, and menus, visit Dining Services Website.

Resident Dining Plans

For resident students, we offer the Anytime Dining program, which provides unlimited access to the dining halls. Students can choose one of four plans:

  • Base Plan: Unlimited access to dining halls with two guest passes per semester
  • Base Plus Plan: Includes 200 Dining Dollars and four guest passes
  • Preferred Plan: Includes 300 Dining Dollars and six guest passes
  • Premium Plan: Includes 400 Dining Dollars and eight guest passes

Dining Dollars are used like cash and are accepted at various campus dining locations, providing flexibility for students to eat on the go. For students living on campus, we recommend the Preferred Plan, which includes 300 Dining Dollars, offering about 15-20 Dining Dollars per week.

Optional Dining Plans

Faculty, staff, and students can also opt for several dining plans:

  • Connector Dining Plans: A discounted option where you can purchase a block of 25, 50, 100, or 150 meals.
  • 5-Day and 7-Day Plans: Unlimited access to dining halls Monday through Friday or all week long.
  • Blocks of Dining Dollars: Accepted across all dining locations.

Terrapin Express

Terrapin Express is a prepaid debit account that allows students to pay for food, school supplies, and other campus services. Funds roll over from semester to semester, and you can add additional funds at any time. Visit Terrapin Express for more details.
